La Dimayor spoke out this Wednesday, February 14, about the events that occurred in the match in which Millonarios beat Atlético Nacional 0-1 at the Atanasio Girardot stadium, in a game on date 6 of the BetPlay I-2024 League.

The Purslane fans decided to protest the defeat and in the south stand some fans set fire and burned chairs and team flags.

The Medellín mayor’s office decided to restrict entry to the south stand for two dates, but then, after four games, access to paraphernalia will be limited to that same area of the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

The punishment that Dimayor could decree was expected, as many expected heavy financial sanctions or more punishment for the fans.

No penalty

However, the Disciplinary Committee did not impose punishment on Nacional for what happened and closed the case.

“The Committee decided to archive and close the disciplinary procedure, once evaluating the report presented by the Match Referee, verifying that the element of the typicality of the infraction cannot be proven,” the statement says.

“However, being consistent with the Committee’s message of rejecting acts of violence within sports venues, the proceedings will be sent to the Local Commission for Safety, Comfort and Coexistence of the city of Medellín,” adds the resolution.
