Diego Schwartzman to Debut at ATP 250 Tennis Tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico

The Argentine Diego Schwartzman will debut on Tuesday at the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico, against the American Emilio Nava, in a match in the first round of the tournament that will award prizes of $1,005,000.

The Buenos Aires tennis player, 31 years old and ranked 115th in the ATP world ranking, will face a Californian pair, 22 years old and ranked 146th in the international rankings.

Schwartzman, who received a special invitation to perform in this hard-court competition, lost early last week at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires to Colombian Daniel Galán, in three sets.

“El Peque” registered his name as champion in Los Cabos in the 2019 edition, when he beat the American Taylor Fritz (10) in the final, by 7/6 and 6/3.

The German Alexander Zverev (6) is the top favorite in the tournament and will debut in the second round. The same will happen with the Greek Stéfanos Tsitsipas (11 and second seed), champion in 2023.

The Australian Alex De Minaur (9 and third seed) and the Norwegian Casper Ruud (12 and fourth seed) will also avoid the debut in the first round and will jump directly to the second round.
