Cristián Martínez Borja Returns to Colombia: Signs with Patriotas Where He Made His Debut

The forward returns to Colombia to play for the club where he made his professional debut

After two years outside the country, Cristián Martínez Borja will return to Colombian football where he will play for Patriotas, a club that is not going through its best moment and is last in the Betplay League.

The 36-year-old attacker will sign with the Boyacenses until December 2024 and arrives with the freedom letter in his possession.

According to what was reported by journalist Felipe Sierra, the experienced striker has already submitted the medical exams and will sign his signature with the ‘Lanceros’ in a matter of hours.

Borja arrives after a stint in Ecuadorian soccer where he played at Universidad Católica for a year and a half where he played 53 games and scored 13 goals and then moved to Orense where he played 12 games and scored a single goal.

Let us remember that Borja returns to the club where he made his professional debut in 2006. In Patriotas, he was in the second division and played 11 games, but could not score with the Boyacenses.

It should be noted that in addition to Patriotas, the forward in Colombia has played in Santa Fe, América de Cali and Junior de Barranquilla. However, the highest point of his career was with Liga de Quito where he was between 2018 and 2021 and scored 45 goals in 104 games.
