The NBA is cruel. Since mid-last season, Evan Fournier no longer fits into Tom Thibodeau’s plans. The result ? 30 games in 2 seasons so far. No one is happy and a trade is the best possible option. He is today in a lot of rumors with a contract ($19 million) that can match players like… Bruce Brown.
The 2023 NBA champion was sent to the Raptors in the exchange with Pascal Siakam, who left for the Pacers. An exchange could therefore take place and Bruce Brown has already made some lighthouse calls to Tom Thibodeau. After the Raptors’ loss to the Knicks 2 weeks ago, he explained that he could do just about anything the Knicks coach wanted him to do. There has been a connection between the two before and they seem to like each other. So only positive and the link could be made in the next two days. Evan Fournier and draft picks could thus go the opposite way to satisfy the Raptors.
For the latter, it’s an opportunity to finally have a change of scenery. To finally get out of this New York quagmire which has gone from dream to nightmare. His contract has a team option at the end of this season so Toronto could consider it an expiring contract, which makes things easier. Evan Fournier could also be bought out (unlikely though) and join a team that needs him, which will exploit his qualities. Either way, it would be an opportunity for him to finally play basketball again. It makes us happy as the situation is sad for our Frenchie who has always remained professional. Enough to prepare as best as possible for the summer which should be eventful and filled with emotions.
