Consumer confidence starts a historic year in 2024 – El Sol de México

In January, the Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) registered a level of 47.1 points, the highest for the same period since records have been recorded, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

This result was motivated by a better expectation about the expected economic situation of the household members within 12 months, compared to the current one, which reached 58.3 points.

Likewise, Mexicans believe that they have a better economic situation at the current time, compared to what they had a year ago, an item that had a level of 51.4 points.

The advances in the ICC occur despite the expectations of financial analysts who expect a slight economic deterioration before the 2024 electoral period and greater price increases in goods and services.

Added to this is that no significant cuts are expected in the reference rate of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), which would eventually impact the cost of credit and the country’s growth.
