MIAMI, Florida. –Ramón Hernández hit an RBI single that broke the tie that gave the Tigres del Licey the first victory of the series 5-4 against the Gigantes de Rivas this Friday afternoon on the second day of the Caribbean Series 66 before 10,710 amateurs at loanDepot park

Hernández singled to right field, driving in Emilio Bonifacio from third with Robinson Canó on first and two outs.

Bonifacio was waiting to tow in third base after shooting a triple with one out, driving in Sergio Alcántara, tying the game at four.

Jairo Asencio entered the ninth, retiring Melvin Novoa and Omar Mendoza with fly balls to second and right field before Norlando Valle’s hit. Benjamín closed with a fly ball to shortstop.

In his fourth series, Asencio has played in fourteen games with seven games saved to put him two behind the Venezuelan leader Francisco Buttó.

It was Licey’s 77th victory in these games and the 200th victory for the Dominican Republic (200-128), tying again with Puerto Rico (200-191).

The American Brooks Hall in the first 3.2 innings, allowed six hits, with three runs, two earned and two strikeouts.

Neftalí Feliz (G,1-0) in the seventh inning faced four batters without allowing them freedom. Jairo Asencio (S, 1) of the four batters he faced, gave him a hit.

Cuban Yaonner Negrín gave up three hits in four innings, with two earned runs and five walks.

Dominican Euclides Leyer (P, 0-1) in the eighth inning could only get one out against three batters, one hit and two earned runs.
