CAN 2024: the triumph of Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast still jubilant on this public holiday Monday after the victory last night (February 11, 2024) of the Elephants in the final of the African Cup of Nations. The players who hung a third star on their orange jersey are parading today in the streets of the economic capital.

Reminder of the score for the rare RFI listeners who may have missed it: Ivory Coast won by 2 goals to 1 against Nigeria. The competition lived up to its promises, and not just sporting ones: quality infrastructure, immense popular success, hospitality celebrated by all the participants. Ivory Coast, which spared no effort to organize this competition, emerged with an obvious gain in notoriety. But what could be the other benefits?
