South Africa defeated DR Congo on penalties on Saturday in the CAN 2024 third-place match. Hosts Ivory Coast will face Nigeria to lift the Africa Cup trophy on Sunday .
On the eve of the Nigeria-Ivory Coast final, South Africa beat DR Congo (0-0, 6 tab to 5) on Saturday at the Félicia stadium in Abidjan, and finished third in the African Cup nations. Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams stopped Meschack Elia’s shot on goal and gave South Africa, crowned in 1996, its second bronze medal at the CAN, after 2000.
