1. FC Union Berlin – 1. FC Heidenheim 2: 2 (2:1)

The game started with an early deficit for the Berliners. Nikola Dovedan scored for Heidenheim in the third minute. Union player Kevin Vogt had previously missed a header, which became an assist for Dovedan. The Berliners tried to play against the deficit. An intense game full of duels developed.

Shortly before the half-time whistle, Union managed to turn the game around. A cross from Josip Juranović was passed by three Heidenheimers, Patrick Mainka set it up for Gosens as he fell, who just had to push in. Shortly after the equalizer, Heidenheim’s Tim Kleindienst played a bad pass in midfield. András Schäfer’s shot was deflected by Brendan Aaronsons and ended up in the goal for the half-time lead.

For a long time in the second half it looked as if the Berliners would no longer give up the lead and the victory. But in the 71st minute Jan-Niklas Beste equalized. The fifth win in a row would have been a club record for Union in the Bundesliga. But the newcomer denied the Berliners this.

Thanks to the draw, Heidenheim maintains the three-point lead over Union. The Berliners remain in 12th place with 25 points.

SV Werder Bremen – SV Darmstadt 98 1:1 (1:1)

Werder Bremen only manages a draw against the bottom team from Darmstadt. Christoph Zimmermann put Bremen behind early with an own goal in the 9th minute. Werder dominated the game, but couldn’t get past Julian Justevan’s equalizer in the 33rd minute.

Darmstadt could have won the game despite being inferior in terms of play. The supposed winning goal by Tim Skarke (78./90.+5) was denied twice after video evidence. This extends Darmstadt’s winless streak to 16 games. Bremen remains in seventh place in the table.

VfB Stuttgart – 1. FC Cologne 1:1 (0:0)

1. FC Köln secured a point in the relegation battle with a surprising draw at VfB Stuttgart. Coach Timo Schultz’s guests fought for a 1-1 draw. VfB’s lead from Enzo Millot (53rd minute) was quickly equalized by Eric Martel (62nd).

Despite winning points, Cologne remains in the relegation place for the time being. VfB is missing out on getting closer to FC Bayern Munich. Stuttgart remain third and are therefore still in a Champions League place.

“You can’t talk around it anymore – we want to play internationally. That’s the goal,” said VfB striker Deniz Undav before the game: “We’re trying to be as successful as possible and then we’ll see if it’s for the Europa League or the Champions League is enough.”

Borussia Mönchengladbach – VfL Bochum 5:2 (2:0)

With their first win in the second half of the season, Borussia Mönchengladbach has moved away from the relegation battle. Coach Gerardo Seoane’s team ended a six-game winless streak in the home game against VfL Bochum and won clearly 5-2.

The goals were scored by Nathan Ngoumou (28th minute), Julian Weigl (35th) with a penalty kick, Rocco Reitz (72nd), Jordan Siebatcheu and Franck Honorat (90th + 6th). Philipp Hofmann (75th) and Keven Schlotterbeck (88th) scored for Bochum to make it 2:4.

The Bochum team suffered a defeat just one week after their surprising 3-2 home win against FC Bayern Munich. In the table, VfL is in 13th place, Borussia is currently two places higher up in 11th place.
