Brooklyn Nets Turn to Interim Coach Kevin Ollie as Dennis Schröder Leads the Team into the Rest of the NBA Season

World champion Dennis Schröder and the Brooklyn Nets are going into the rest of the NBA season with an interim coach. As the New York team announced on Tuesday, current assistant coach Kevin Ollie will take over the role of Jacque Vaughn. The previous head coach was fired during the All-Star Game break on Monday.

Brooklyn (21:33 wins) responded to the unsatisfactory sporting situation. Playmaker Schröder’s new team is in danger of missing the play-offs as the eleventh best in the East. The captain of the German national team was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Nets at the end of the trade deadline on February 8th.

For Ollie, who will make his debut on Thursday against Schröder’s former team from Toronto, it is the first stop as a head coach in the NBA. As a college coach, the 51-year-old won the national championship with UConn in 2014. As a player, Ollie appeared in the NBA in 13 seasons.
