Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team meeting with students affected by the 2023 earthquakes

On the anniversary of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, centered in Kahramanmaraş and affected 11 provinces, Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team Head Coach Aziz Akkaya and Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team player Şuğranur Sönmez met with the students affected by the earthquake in Osmaniye, through the Birevim social responsibility project ‘A Future’.

Osmaniye Governor Erdinç Yılmaz, Osmaniye Youth and Sports Provincial Director Sedat Acar, Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club Basketball Coach Aziz Akkaya, Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club Basketball Player Şuğranur Sönmez and Birevim Board Member Mustafa Kazım Alpay attended the event held at Tosyalı Sports Hall.

Students took photos and played basketball with Aziz Akkaya and Şuğranur Sönmez at the event organized to give morale to earthquake-affected students in Osmaniye and encourage them to participate in sports activities.

Board Member Mustafa Kazım Alpay said that as the Birevim family, they organized such an event on the anniversary of the earthquake to raise the morale of children affected by the earthquake, and said, “We had previously distributed table tennis equipment in 20 provinces and supported our children in cooperation with our Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Table Tennis Federation. We also supported our children in many provinces.” We established informatics classes and libraries. We wanted to be in Osmaniye on the anniversary of the earthquake. We wanted to come together with the children who were affected by the earthquake here, gift them basketballs, introduce them to basketball and raise awareness. Similar programs and events to be held in the future will be better and more effective. We thought that we would be the pioneer in doing this in a strong way. I would like to take this opportunity to especially thank our Osmaniye Governor Erdinç Yılmaz. With his support, we held this beautiful event here today. In addition, Birevim Board of Directors, who supported us under all circumstances and enabled us to underwrite our corporate social responsibility projects. We would also like to thank our President Murat Çiftçi. “From now on, within the framework of our ‘One Future’ project, we will continue to introduce our young people to sports activities with different concepts in different provinces and to organize supportive programs, especially in disadvantaged regions,” he said.

Those who survived those painful days We opened places for our brothers and families in the halls and offered physiological and psychological support here. Of course, a year has passed. Our pain is fresh, it is a difficult event, I wish God’s mercy on our deceased brothers and I wish patience to their relatives. The deep-rooted club of our country, the one we are proud of, the one we are proud of I would like to say that I am very happy that our Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, which we heard about, organized such a program with our earthquake-affected children here today.
