Audi and union reach 7% wage agreement, but worker approval is lacking – El Sol de México

After 10 days of strike at Audi México, the company reported that it managed to reach an agreement with the Independent Workers Union (Sitaudi), in relation to the 2024 Collective Labor Contract.

In a separate document, César Orta, general secretary of Sitaudi, specified that said agreement will not take effect until the majority of workers approve it by vote.

The union leader explained that the agreement that was signed today before the Federal Labor Court for Collective Affairs promises a global salary increase of 7 percent (5 percent direct to salary and 2 percent in benefits), but the union’s request is highest.

“From the talks of the previous days, the company’s offer was 6.5 percent overall, they only increased 0.5 percent in benefits (…) the Union’s claim continues to be 10 percent direct to salary and 5 percent in benefits ”, he stressed.

Despite this, the union agreed to sign the agreement to submit it for consultation with the worker base, since in the talks held with the company a salary increase greater than 7 percent was not offered.

He insisted that the union remains firm in its intention to obtain a 15% increase: 10% increase in salary and 5% in benefits.

For its part, the car assembly company assured that, after resuming negotiations with the union, an agreement was reached on a salary increase that is 50 percent higher than inflation.

“The San José Chiapa plant continues its work to guarantee and respect their rights, in accordance with the established agreements. For Audi México, the commitment is to ensure the job stability of our collaborators as well as the proper functioning of our operations, for mutual benefit,” he indicated.
