Athletic Club-FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid-Real Sociedad are the semi-final ties of the Queen’s Cup of football, according to the draw held this Friday in the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas (Madrid).
The blaugranas, big favorites as current champions of League F and ‘Champions’, will first travel to Lezama to face the ‘lionesses’, who will have to travel a week later to Barcelona to close the tie.
The culé team, which has nine Cups – a record in the competition – overwhelmed Sevilla in the quarterfinals (8-0), while the Bilbao team beat Costa Adeje Tenerife in the penalty shootout (1-1, 7-6 in the penalties).
The Atlético team, which is defending its title and which eliminated Real Madrid in the quarter-final derby (2-1), will repeat the 2019 cup final in the penultimate round against Natalia Arroyo’s team, in which the San Sebastian team won its only so far ‘KO’ tournament trophy. The Basque team, for its part, left Levante out of the competition (1-2).
The first leg matches of the semi-finals are scheduled for March 5, 6 and 7, while the return matches will be held the following week, from March 12 to 14. The final will be played on Saturday, May 18, a week before the Champions League final in Bilbao -May 25-.
