Arthur Cazaux is having a very special start to the 2024 season.
Titled in the Nouméa Challenger at the beginning of January, he then shone in Australia where he notably beat Holger Rune before losing in the round of 16 against Hubert Hurkacz. And he is now playing at home, in front of his audience, in Montpellier, where he will face Felix Auger‐Aliassime in the round of 16 this Thursday at 7 p.m.
The 21-year-old Frenchman, now 83rd in the world, explained at a press conference how he managed media pressure.
“My entourage helps me a lot. I have parents who instilled good values in me. Even if the media are getting a little excited, I’m only 83rd in the world, I have higher goals. It’s true that in France, as soon as there is a small achievement, we immediately burst into flames… Especially in tennis where there has been a bit of a generational dip. But I’m well surrounded, I have people who know how to refocus me when necessary, so I’m not ready to fly away (smile). »
