Argentina managed to get through to 2024 Olympics after winning over Brazil 1-0 in the qualifying round at the Brigido Iriarte Stadium, Caracas, Venezuela, Sunday (11/2).

Argentina, who needed a win to qualify, succeeded in realizing their mission. Javier Mascherano’s team managed to achieve a narrow victory with a score of 1-0.

Argentina’s only winning goal was scored by Luciano Gondou with a header in the 77th minute.

An additional three points meant that Argentina secured one of two tickets from the CONMEBOL zone to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The other ticket was secured by Paraguay.

On the other hand, for Brazil, this defeat wiped out their chances of fighting for a medal at the Olympics. This failure is also painful because Brazil has always won medals in the last four editions and has never been absent since the 2004 Olympics.

Argentina currently occupies the top position in the final round of competition for tickets to qualify for the Olympics. Thiago Almada and friends collected five points.

Paraguay, which still has one match remaining, is in second place with four points. The last two positions are occupied by Brazil and Venezuela, who have certainly lost their desire to appear at the 2024 Olympics.

The qualifying round for the 2024 Olympics in the CONMEBOL zone itself is divided into two stages, namely the group stage and the final round, which is attended by four teams, namely Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Venezuela.
