AMLO recognizes that huachicoleo continues, 4,500 barrels are stolen daily – El Sol de México

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador acknowledged that so far in his administration the theft of huachicol has not ended, although it was reduced by 95 percent, 4,500 barrels are still stolen daily.

He indicated that at the beginning of his administration, 80 thousand barrels were stolen per day and by not allowing major theft, this translated into a “saving” of 300 billion pesos.

“In Huachicol, 80,000 barrels were stolen daily, we have dropped to 4,500, 95 percent less.”

When recounting what he called the fight against corruption, he reported that so far in his government, by asking large business corporations and banks to pay taxes, important resources have been recovered and not, as happened in the past, where they were forgiven. taxes in billions of pesos.

“Now the income of the public treasury has improved. We went from 3 billion pesos in income from contributions to 4 and a half billion pesos. There has been an increase of one trillion 500 billion in quantitative terms. Collection has increased.”

In addition, he said that the 4T is ending with “leonine contracts” from the economic groups closest to the government.

He cited as an example that “a lot was paid for the maintenance of private prisons. Prisons were built and they had to be paid 5 thousand pesos a day per prisoner, an abuse!”

The same hospitals were built and he said that his government will terminate an agreement in which 149 billion pesos had to be paid for the construction of nine hospitals, but when the appraisal is done they are only worth 6 billion pesos.

“We are going to buy the nine hospitals and we are going to end that contract,” explained the president at the press conference held at the Army facilities in Oriental, Puebla.

In that same session, the General Secretary of National Defense, Luis Crescencio Sandoval, welcomed the president and the members of the cabinet to the aeronautical factory, munitions and the development of aerial surveillance of the Army, before them he announced that last year the main crime in the entity was theft from carriers with an increasing trend.

He said that the main crimes in the entity, in addition to theft from carriers, are vehicle theft, which had a higher incidence than in 2018, while human trafficking increased compared to the beginning of the current administration.

Regarding theft from transporters, he said that they went from 2,127 crimes in 2019 to 2,589 complaints in 2023.

But in the last year, from 2022 to 2023, that incidence went from 1,801 to more than 2,500 crimes.

He reported that so far this year in January 46 have been recorded and so far in February they have accumulated 13 robberies. Of the total, the largest number of robberies occurred on federal highways.

He indicated that to reverse this, last year the presence of the National Guard was increased and at the beginning of this month the security presence was reinforced, particularly in the Amozoc-Perote section with the arrival of 62 more elements and 31 radio patrol units. , as well as an intelligence cell.

He said that since the first security reinforcement, thefts were reduced by ten percent last year.
