Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel, a successful ski racer, is leaving the big World Cup stage at the end of the season.

The two-time Olympic silver medalist will end her successful ski career this season. The 31-year-old Norwegian explained this in a video message on social media, and the Norwegian association confirmed the news.

Mowinckel sees himself as having reached a point “where I can no longer give”. She made her decision at the fall festival in January in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where she celebrated her fourth and so far last World Cup victory in the downhill.

Mowinckl was able to make dreams come true

“I think eight-year-old Ragnhild would be proud of 31-year-old Ragnhild,” she said in the video, in which she laughed and cried: “She had dreams that we achieved together.” In addition to Olympic silver in the 2018 downhill and giant slalom, Mowinckel, nicknamed “Ragmow”, won two bronze medals at world championships: in the combination in 2019 and in the giant slalom in 2023. She achieved her four World Cup victories in the downhill, the super-G (two) and the giant slalom.
