Ajax and Borussia Dortmund Reach Agreement on Transfer of Striker

Ajax and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement on the transfer of (19). Earlier on Thursday it became clear that the Supervisory Board of the Amsterdam team has still agreed to the return of the striker, who exchanged the youth academy of the Amsterdam team for that of the German top club in 2021. Only the medical examination can now throw a spanner in the works.

Club watcher Mike Verweij from The Telegraph writes, based on ‘sources in Germany’, that an agreement has now been reached between Ajax and Dortmund. Provided he successfully passes the medical examination, Rijkhoff will transfer to Amsterdam for a sum of 1.4 million euros. This amount could increase further in the future to a maximum of 2.5 million euros through bonuses, Verweij knows. Moreover, BVB also benefits if Ajax sells the player in the future: the club has also managed to negotiate a resale percentage.

Rijkhoff had already traveled to his birthplace Purmerend pending an agreement and will undergo a medical examination later on Thursday at De Toekomst and the UMC. If that does not yield any details, he will sign a contract for four and a half seasons with Ajax, where he had already played in the youth team for nine years until his departure to Dortmund.

In Dortmund, Rijkhoff still had a contract until mid-2026. Despite his enormous scoring drive, the young Dutchman did not have to count on a chance in the first team. Rijkhoff therefore played his matches in the club’s Under 19; On behalf of that team, he scored eleven times in fourteen matches this season, including four goals in the UEFA Youth League.
