AC Milan has never won the Europa League. This makes the Rossoneri motivated to become champions this season.
AC Milan meets Rennes in the Europa League play-off. The first duel took place at the San Siro, Friday (16/2/2024) early morning WIB.
The Rossoneri are outcasts from the Champions League and coach Stefano Pioli hopes to become champions in this event. Milan has actually never won the Europa League or European Cup.
“The fact that Milan has never won the Europa League gives us extra motivation, even though we can’t look that far,” said Pioli as quoted by Football Italia.
Milan beat Newcastle in the final match of the Champions League group stage last December. This result was not enough to qualify for the knockout phase because Borussia Dortmund failed to beat PSG.
There was disappointment after the match, but Pioli realized that Milan had to change to another target.
“What we remember that night in Newcastle is of course the disappointment of being knocked out of the Champions League. “However, we needed another target and put all our energy into the new competition,” said Pioli.
