2024 Uganda International Badminton Challenge: Last Olympic Qualifier on African Continent

Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) notes that the Uganda international challenge being the last Olympic qualifiers on African continent, the entries increased compared to the past championships.

The 2024 Uganda International Badminton Challenge has officially shuttled off at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, Kampala city on Wednesday, 21st February.

The challenge has lured 49 countries across the world  with over 500 players.

The five-day championship was officially launched by the Uganda Olympics Committee (UOC)  President Dr Donald  Rukare.

Rukare highlighted the importance of this championships that also comes with opportunities with sports tourism.

“The Uganda International Badminton challenge is an important tournament for it brings together different countries with the best players. There are also opportunities for sports tourism” Dr. Rukare stated.

A badminton player in action

Some of Uganda’s players that are just fresh from Egypt for Thomas and Uber cup say that they have gained experience that will help them perform well in this Uganda international.

Players are looking for the 2024 Paris Olympics with the win of this challenge earning 4000 points.
