Zoé Talbot: 12-Year-Old Baseball Player Selected for Trailblazer Series in Florida

SAINTE MARIE. Zoé Talbot, 12 years old from Sainte-Marie, is one of 96 baseball players selected from across Canada and the United States to take part in the Trailblazer series.

This is a development camp offered by the MLB (Major League Baseball) which will take place from April 13 to 16 in Vero Beach, Florida. The goal of the event is to provide young girls with opportunities to learn and grow as baseball players.

Sportswoman at heart

Zoé took up her sport at the age of 5. In the summer, she plays for Torrent de Beauce-Nord in mixed teams. For 2 years, in addition to playing her season with boys (caliber A), she has been selected to be part of the regional women’s team (caliber AA). This led her to participate in the Provincial Championships in 2022, as well as the Quebec Games in 2023. She also returned from the latter with a silver medal around her neck.

“It was the first time there was women’s baseball. I played on the Chaudière-Appalaches delegation team. I really liked the atmosphere. We walked around with our maple water kettles and wooden sticks: “Chau Chau Chau, Chaudière-Appalaches!” “, she remembers.

Currently, Zoé Talbot is in secondary 1 at Veilleux Secondary School in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce in the baseball sports-studies program.

“I love this sport because it focuses a lot on mentality and teamwork. For 7 years now, I have worked hard to improve my level of play and my technique. In addition to being a regular presence at my team’s practices and games, I train at home to put the advice of my coaches into practice. Despite the fact that in life, I am a fairly shy and studious young girl, when I am on a baseball field, I know how to take the place that is rightful to me and I give my all to seek victory,” she said. passionate.
