[24th edition Baseball Rookie Record (7) Giants 4th place, Yuta Izumiguchi, infielder]Izumiguchi, a shortstop who has competed in prestigious teams such as Osaka Toin, Seigaku University, and NTT West, had a simple mindset.

“I started playing baseball because I love it and it’s fun. If I have that desire, I can do my best.”

At Osaka Toin, he is one grade above the “strongest generation in history” such as Neo (Chunichi) and Fujiwara (Lotte). He contributed to the championship in his third year selection, where he wore uniform number 6. In the fall of his third year at Seigaku University, he became the MVP of the Toto 2nd division and led them back to the first division, and in the fall of his fourth year as captain, he was selected to the best nine. The pressure of not only playing at Koshien and Jingu, but also being placed in an environment where winning is required, is immeasurable, but he reflected, “I never thought of quitting.”

He led me to the path of baseball. His brother Kazuki, who is four years older than him, started playing baseball. His father, Takenori, is an experienced Kendo practitioner, and was initially trying to get him to study Kendo. “If my brother practiced Kendo, I might have done Kendo too.” He also played baseball for fun, and when he was in elementary school, Noguchi said, “My friend’s house was far away, so I didn’t really go out to play.It was either baseball or vacation,” and from the first grade onwards, he never missed a practice swing. He said, “I think there’s a difference between 0 and 1. I was more conscious of continuing than deciding on a number.”

There is no player I look up to. Because I like playing baseball more than watching it. He is a 24-year-old who is expected to be an immediate force. He “does what he has to do on the spot, without looking at his surroundings.” Even though he is a prestigious player in professional baseball, he is not fooled. He takes on the challenge of the professional world with his original intention of “I love baseball.” (Daily Onodera)
