World Champion Matteo Bonacina to Defend Compound Open Title at Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships in Novara

The world champion from Bergamo Matteo Bonacina he will be called to defend the Compound Open title at the Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships in Novara.

Will be Novara, in fact, to host the first federal event of the new archery season. At Pala Igor (Piazzale Giuseppe Fortina 3), the 37th Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championship will take place on 27 and 28 January, which will see the best Paralympic archers from all over Italy involved.

Thanks to the organization of ASD Arcieri Cameriwhich enjoys the patronage of the Municipalities of Novara e Roomsof the Province of Novara and the Lands of Upper Piedmont and of the precious contribution of the Barilla partners – Novara Plant, Novacciai Martin, Pepe Rocco, Latteria di Cameri, Riso Corbetta, the championship will have around 80 participants on the shooting line and, among these , the youth classes and the Azzurri already busy preparing for the qualifying match in March a Dubai and the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

THE CATEGORIES IN THE COMPETITION – The categories competing a Novara they are Recurvo Open, Compound Open, W1, Visually Impaired 1 (blind) and Visually Impaired 2/3 (visually impaired) who will compete for the class titles at the end of the 60 qualifying arrows shot at 18 meters away and, subsequently, through the preliminaries with direct clashes, the absolute Italian titles.

THE TOKYO AZURRI ON THE FIELD – On the competitive side it will be an unmissable event given that the athletes of the National Para-Archery team will be competing, who in 2023 obtained 7 passes for the Paralympic Games in Paris and who, starting from the month of March, will be engaged internationally to try to replenish the group that will take part from 28 August to 8 September in the challenges that will be played at the Esplanade des Invalides.

In the firing line of Novara the protagonists of Tokyo 2020, where theItalia achieved at least one podium for the tenth consecutive edition, thanks to the individual silver curve of Enza Petrillithe silver mixed recurve team Elisabetta Mijno e Stefano Travisani and the compound individual bronze of Maria Andrea Virgilio. Also on the field were all the Azzurri who, between the World Cups of Pilsen and the Europeans of Rotterdam played in 2023, brought theItalia in second and first place in the medal table for Nations, confirming itself as one of the leading national teams.
