The German (died on 7 January 2024, aged 78) was one of the protagonists of that match: in the 65th minute of regulation time, the defender fell in a tackle, dislocating his shoulder. The German bench had just made the second substitution and the defender remained on the pitch with a noticeable bandage, playing almost half the match with a noticeable bandage on his torso.
