Veolia Towers Hamburg Suffers Disappointing Defeat in Eurocup Home Game

The Veolia Towers Hamburg clearly missed the hoped-for first victory in front of their own fans in the penultimate Eurocup home game this season. After an overall weak performance, the Bundesliga basketball team lost on Wednesday evening in front of 1,163 spectators in the Inselparkhalle to the previously winless bottom team Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana with 83:114 (45:52) and suffered their 14th defeat in the 16th game. The best thrower in head coach Benka Barloschky’s team was Aleksander Dziewa (21 points).

The spectators saw an exciting first half. After Aljami Durham and Dziewa scored the first Towers points, the guests proved to be the more effective team until the end of the first quarter and were leading 28:17 at one point. After just under two minutes in the second period, Nico Brauner put his team back in front with a three-pointer to make it 33:32, but they then had problems again and were even twelve points behind shortly before the break.

The Towers supporters waited in vain for their team to make another comeback after the break. The Hanseatics were inferior to the guests in almost all respects. Before the final section the deficit was already 21 points. In the last quarter, the Towers didn’t even manage to cosmeticize their results.
