QATAR – Indonesian National Team defender, Pratama Arhan has officially continued his career with South Korean club Suwon FC. Suwon is a K League 1 club or the top caste of the South Korean League.

With this certainty, unemployment for the Indonesian National Team in the 2023 Asian Cup has officially reduced. Previously, Arhan was unemployed or without a club after being released by the Japanese club, Tokyo Verdy.

Despite this, it turns out there are still two unemployed players defending Indonesia in the 2023 Asian Cup. Here’s the review.

1. Shayne Pattynama
Naturalized player Shayne Pattynama is without a club. This 25 year old player was released by the Norwegian club, Viking FK on December 7 2023.

Viking FK Sports Director, Erik Nevland, expressed his gratitude for Shayne Pattynama’s dedication over the years. According to him, this player is one of Viking FK’s best recruits.

“Shayne is a good signing for us considering he has contributed as much as he has. He is progressing well, and we are aware that the plan is to be at Viking for some time before he moves on,” he said.

2. Asnawi Mangkualam
The captain of the Indonesian National Team, Asnawi Mangkualam, also does not have a club. He has been released by the South Korean club, Jeonnam Dragons.

Asnawi Mangkualam only lasted one season at Jeonnam Dragons. And now it is not yet known where the former PSM Makassar player will land. There have been no issues that have come out recently.

Jeonnam released Asnawi not the only one, because there were still nine other players. The club took this action because they wanted to clear the warehouse before the new K2 League season started.

Even though he is unemployed, this does not affect Asnawi’s performance in the 2023 Asian Cup. This player, who is often rumored to be with Fuji, became the hero of Indonesia’s victory when they met Vietnam in the Group D preliminary match, Friday 19 January 2024.

Asnawi’s single goal in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot brought Indonesia to beat Vietnam 1-0. The Garuda squad also maintains its hopes of qualifying for the round of 16.
