Tuchel Expects Upamecano to be Out with Thigh Injury

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel expects Dayot Upamecano to be out. He explained this to Sky after the game against Union Berlin (1-0).

In the best case scenario, the defender would have a strained thigh. If things go worse, the diagnosis is even called fiber rupture. One thing is clear: the 25-year-old will definitely miss the upcoming encounter with Augsburg. And it will probably be canceled beyond that too!

How many weeks it will last will be shown by the exact diagnosis, which will probably follow on Friday. Anything between two and six weeks is conceivable.

The thigh pinches: Upamecano was replaced with an injury

The central defender issue is flaring up again at FC Bayern Munich as there is a risk of another shortage. Dayot Upamecano had to be substituted in the catch-up game against 1. FC Union Berlin with muscle problems in his thigh. New signing Eric Dier came into the game after the break.

What happened? At the end of the first round, Upamecano grabbed the back of his left thigh after a sprint, whereupon the medics entered the field. After a short treatment, the Frenchman continued to play for the last few minutes until the half-time whistle, but then remained in the dressing room.

Depending on the severity of the injury, it is possible that Upamecano will miss at least the next Bundesliga match day against FC Augsburg. Dier then has a very good chance of moving into the record champions’ starting lineup.
