London – So far in the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin from RB Leipzig and Genoa, but they are also working on several departures.

For example, Eric Dier went to Bayern Munich, Ashley Phillips was loaned to Plymouth Argyle, and Hugo Lloris was released to join Los Angeles FC.

Additionally, a new destination was found for Djed Spence after Leeds United ended his loan there. As part of the Dragusin deal, Genoa loaned the full-back.

Now, there will be another example of a player’s loan spell from Tottenham ending and another starting in a matter of days.

Recently, speculation has been rife about Sergio Reguilon’s future after he returned to Tottenham from a six-month loan spell at Manchester United.

Reguilon was initially snapped up by Man Utd when left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were injured, but after 12 appearances was no longer needed at Old Trafford so his rest clause was activated.

There is no room for Reguilon to return to Tottenham, in fact he was not included in their squad last season, which he spent with Atletico Madrid on loan, so the search for the next potential player continues.

Over the weekend, Brentford were willing to bring Reguilon into the squad, given the fact that their main left-back, Rico Henry, was sidelined with a serious injury, and fellow full-back Aaron Hickey also had a serious injury. injury problems too.

Things have progressed on Reguilon’s front since then. On Tuesday evening, reports revealed that an agreement had been reached between Tottenham and Brentford for his move.

The deal date will be revealed

Quoted from TEAMtalk, the agreement will be in the form of another loan, not a permanent transfer. There has been no mention of an eventual buyout option, but either way, this would give Reguilon the regular playing time he needs to get himself noticed again by potential suitors.

As long as the Spaniard agrees to the terms, everything could be resolved this Wednesday, when Reguilon is scheduled to undergo a medical with Brentford.

Reguilon is still under contract with Tottenham until 2025, but reports claim Ange Postecoglou classifies him as surplus to requirements.

Destiny Udogie has been the main left-back for Tottenham this season after being integrated into the team, ending his loan spell from Udinese. Ben Davies can also be used in the same position.

As Sergio Reguilon is yet to play a single game for Tottenham during the 2023-24 season, only appearing in pre-season games under Postecoglou, he is eligible to leave the club for the second time this season and join Brentford.

If Reguilon had featured for Spurs before or after his loan spell at Manchester United, this move would not have been possible. Instead, he is now ready to embark on a new, short-lived challenge in London.

Brentford will be the third club Reguilon represents in the Premier League. The player originally joined Spurs in 2020 from Real Madrid following a loan spell at Sevilla.

In total, Reguilon has made 67 appearances for Tottenham, but these appearances were spread across the first two years, just over his three and a half year spell.
