Top Swimmers of 2023 Determined by JSPS: Nikolas Deichman Leads the Pack

The best swimmers of 2023 have been determined by JSPS

In the Jelgava Specialized Swimming School (JSPS), the best swimmers of the past year, who have shown the highest results in competitions, are traditionally determined. Last year, the highest result was for Nikolas Deichmans, a student of trainer Astra Ozoliņa, with 741 FINA points.

As JSPS deputy director Aldis Trukšāns explains, the top includes school swimmers whose results in competitions in one distance have been evaluated with at least 600 FINA or International Swimming Federation points. Last year there were 11 such students.

The highest result of 2023 belongs to Nicholas Deichman with 741 FINA points – he swam 200 meters on the backstroke in a 50-meter pool in 2:03.65 minutes. The second place is taken by Christian Branch with 737 points – he swam 100 meters on the backstroke in a 50-meter pool in 57.11 seconds. Matīss Kaktiņš completes the trio with 710 points, which he earned by swimming the 100-meter breaststroke in a 25-meter pool in 1:01.95 minutes.

Only one point (667) is behind Rūta Škirus, who swam 33.52 seconds in the 50-meter breaststroke in a 50-meter pool. Laura Šinkus is sixth with 656 points – she completed 50 meters on the backstroke in a 50-meter pool in 31.04 seconds. Ilya Alekseev’s result in 100 meters butterfly in 50 meters pool – 56.94 seconds – was evaluated with 655 points. He is followed by Roberts Gutmanis with 633 points – he completed 50 meters in butterfly style in a 25 meter pool in 25.32 seconds.
