The Passing of Nettuno Baseball Legend Alfredo Lauri: A Tribute to His Legacy

Mourning in sport a Neptune. At the age of 88 he died Alfredo Laurione of the athletes who made Nettuno baseball great between the ’50s and the ’70s.

Born in 1935, left-handed pitcher, Alfredo Lauri made his debut in the top flight in 1954 and wore the glorious jersey of Nettuno until 1978. With the green and blue colors he won eight championships, the Golden Tournament, the Champions Cup in 1965 and in 1972 plus an Italian Cup. His life statistics speak of 984 innings pitched, 97 wins and 27 losses, average PGL 1.99 with 710 SO and 345 BB. He made his debut for the national team in 1956 with which he collected 18 caps. Since 2012 he has been in the Italian baseball Hall of Fame. Impressive numbers for an athlete who truly made baseball history at Nettuno.
