Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas are often seen together in doubles.
Last year, Stefanos Tsitsipas and his brother Petros won the doubles title together at the ATP tournament in Antwerp. The 23-year-old then reached the top 100 of the double world rankings. A milestone in the career of the Greek top 10 player’s brother, who is two years younger.
Petros Tstitsipas sees his older brother as a clear role model and the reason why he is a tennis professional. “Stefanos is the reason why I’m taking on the challenge of the tour and practicing my favorite sport as a professional,” said the current 97th in the double world rankings in an interview with atptour.com.
Stefanos Tsitsipas inspires many people
Petros is proud of his brother’s role model function: “He inspires many people in Greece, I’m definitely one of them.” For the younger brother, who focuses primarily on doubles, the title in Antwerp was synonymous with his first trophy on the ATP Tour.
The two brothers really appreciate the special feature of playing together for Greece. Due to father Apostolos’ coaching work, the Greek team looks like a small family business, in which Maria Sakkari is temporarily involved this week.
