stage and jersey for Amundsen in the 20 km of Dobbiaco. Pellegrino in top 10

Also in the archives is the men’s 20 km free technique pursuit of the Tour de Ski 2024. In the first race of the new year, in Dobbiaco, the winner is Harald Oestberg Amundsenwhich comes off at the end Erik Valnes in what is a full-blown Norwegian double. 52’38” is the time of the winner, who at this point becomes the man to beat upon entering Davos. The gap between the two is 32.9 seconds. The double becomes a hat-trick with third place Jan Thomas Jenssen in a sprint.

After less than 5 km the situation is already very well defined: breakaway by Amundsen and Valnes, Ogden and Hyvarinen who are progressively caught up by the chasing group and status quo which remains essentially identical. The gap settles down around the minute mark. Shortly after the 17th kilometre, Amundsen leaves, managing to push on his skis in a much better way than his compatriot. The race is decided here, because then there is no longer any chance of changing the course of things.

Nearing the last kilometre, Moch fires up the battle for third place, skimming the group. Fourth William Poromaa by three tenths: in the photo finish it is the Swede who spoils the party Martin Loewstrom Nyengetwhich would have otherwise given poker to Norway.

Sixth place for the German Friedrich Moch at 1’05″5: eight tenths later the Swiss arrives Bede Klee and French Hugo Lapalus. Federico Pellegrinogood at fighting to stay in this group, is ninth at 1’08″8, ahead of the American Gus Schumacher at 1’09″2. We also note the withdrawal of Didrik Toenseth: norge never in shape, a bit of the other side of the coin.

The Italian chapter sees Elijah Barp close 35th at 3’50″8, then I’m there Martino Carollo 36° a 3’53″7, Paolo Ventura 39° a 3’57″3, Giandomenico Salvadori and Simone Daprà 52nd and 53rd at 5’38″8, Dietmar Noeckler 68th at 9’14″6.
