A few hours after the preview of Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPNil Vice President of Basketball Operations e General Manager Rob Pelinka announced the signing of Skylar Mays. The outsider accepted the two-way contract offered by Los Angeles Lakers.
In recent days the yellow and purple have signed Dylan Windler after cutting Alex Fudge and D’Moi Hodge. Both Mays and Windler can boast some, albeit minimal, NBA experience compared to cut athletes. Therefore, these latest moves, even if marginal, denote the desire to have athletes available in the third lines ready to contribute
???? Who is Skylar Mays?
Mays (born 1997, 191 cm and 93 kg) spent four years with theLouisiana State University (LSU) in his native Baton Rouge. In 130 races with the Fighting Tigers, Skylar averaged 12.4 points (34.5% from beyond the arc with 4.1 3PA), 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.5 minutes. In his senior year he was nominated Academic All-American of the Year being included in theAll-SEC First Team.
In 2020 the Atlanta Hawks they selected him with the 50th overall pick, where he spent two years between the NBA and G League. In April 2023 he joined the Portland Trail Blazers with whom he played until last week.
In the three and a half years spent in Georgia and Oregon Mays played 88 games, averaging 4.9 points on 34.3% from three, 1.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 11.8 minutes per game. Skylar also played 30 games in the G League with College Park Skyhawks, Delaware Blue Coats e Mexico City Captains averaging 14.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 27.8 minutes per game.
Skylar Mays played twice against the Lakers during the season: in the Los Angeles match he finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 12 assists. In Portland he scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists with 3/7 from the arc. The Doctor he will wear the yellow-purple vest number 4.
