Real Madrid finds its muse in time against Olympiacos
From more to less, the Euroleague leader prevents the Greek comeback to regain the taste of victory

Real Madrid beat Olympiacos (90-85) this Thursday on matchday 23 of the Euroleague held at the WiZink Center, with much more suffering than a 52-30 at halftime indicated, although the reissue of the last final could not disappoint.
Chus Mateo’s men had to sweat in the second half against an opponent who was an expert in returning to games. The Greek team arrived very alive in the final minutes, but a streak by Dzanan Musa, the locals’ top scorer with 20 points, allowed the leader to regain the taste of victory in its comfortable position (20-3).
A second consecutive European defeat, after Monaco, was not in Madrid’s plans, and from the first quarter they commanded with quality in front of their fans. Facundo Campazzo led a brilliant start, a PIR of 17 in the opening set, despite the visitors’ problems (30-11). The whites scored almost everything from three and dominated inside.
Meanwhile, Canaan was surpassed by the Argentine in direction and Vincent Poirier was in charge inside due to the losses in the Greeks of Nikola Milutinov and Moustapha Fall. Olympiacos sat without giving an assist in 10 minutes and despite improving, something that was not difficult, they went into the break with a tough 52-30 down.
The 2 of 15 in triples kept the visitors away against a Madrid that, on the contrary, made 8 of 11 and continued to set the pace of the game from the rebound. However, Georgios Bartzokas’ men turned the tables with an immense Papanikolau, author of 25 points, and little by little, equalizing every facet in which they had been inferior, especially moving the ball in attack.
At 68-55, last year’s European champion at the expense of those from Piraeus still entered with the game in their hands in the final act, but the visitor’s comeback continued to take shape. The WiZink Center ended up risking its undefeated status in Europe with a tight finish that Musa relieved, with two decisive shots to the basket.
Porier also made his last serve with a huge block and Campazzo in turn finished as he started, grabbing hot balls while Olympiacos stayed halfway. The last finalist did not have the slightest revenge on him and left his position in the ‘Top 6’ up in the air. The champion got his way once again in the Palace of He (11-0) finding his muse in time: the cold-blooded Bosnian.
