The match between the Raptors and the Warriors will be shown on RDS2 starting at 8:30 p.m.
After a heartbreaking defeat Friday in Sacramento against the Kings, the Toronto Raptors continue their California trip by visiting Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Newcomers Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett, acquired last week in the trade that sent OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks, didn’t take long to find their rhythm in their new colors. They averaged 20 and 16 points in the three games they played respectively.
Against the Kings, Quickley was the Raptors’ top scorer with 20 points in addition to collecting eight assists and five rebounds. Scottie Barnes was not left out, also obtaining around twenty points, in addition to six rebounds and four assists.
It wasn’t enough to stop the Kings, however, led by Domantas Sabonis who scored a 24-point hat trick in the 134-130 victory. The Toronto team was relegated to 12th place in the East, two games behind the Chicago Bulls and the last place giving access to the playoffs.
As for Steph Curry’s gang, she will have to deal with some major absentees. Guard Chris Paul suffered a broken left hand that will sideline him for the next four to six weeks.
Also missing will be Draymond Green, who returned to the team Saturday after a 12-game absence due to an indefinite suspension by the NBA after hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic. The incident was just the latest in a long line in Green’s career, who was required by the NBA to receive help from a counselor. In his absence, the Warriors went 7-5. He is expected to return to play during the week.
The Warriors are a long way from the form of their glory days, currently in 10th place in the West with a 17-18 record. Curry, however, remains in great shape, averaging nearly 28 points per game, hitting 40.8% of his three-point shots.
