Puppies Bring Unexpected Chaos to NBA Halftime Show In Phoenix

Phoenix (USA) – On Wednesday, the basketball players from the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings had to wait a few minutes longer than usual for the second half to kick off. The reason for the delay was sweet and a little unsavory at the same time.

As in all major US leagues, NBA fans on site are in for a treat even when the ball isn’t flying through the air.

The organizers at the Footprint Center in Arizona had a particularly cute idea for their halftime show. A puppy race was meant to get the spectators’ hearts racing while the athletes enjoyed a well-earned tea break.

When the young four-legged friends were brought onto the dance floor, everything pointed to a complete success because the audience was thrilled by the magical balls of fur.

But the little dogs didn’t really feel like competing; instead, they wandered around the field haphazardly. At least until a cheerleader was able to lure one of the goofy participants toward the finish line with a toy.

After the winner was duly celebrated, things should actually move on quickly. However, several puppies had relieved themselves on the track during the race and left puddles behind.

Of course, Kevin Durant (35) and Co. couldn’t go hunting for baskets safely, so the hall staff had to get the mop out and clean up the wet mishaps of the adorable sprinters.

Afterwards, however, the fans got their money’s worth again, as the game had a thrilling final quarter.

The Kings still led by 22 points eight minutes before the end before Suns superstar Durant turned up the heat, scored 15 of his 27 points and hit the home team with free throws with 1.7 seconds left to secure a narrow 119:117 victory.
