Philippe Boutron, president of US Orléans: “If we don’t play in Orléans, we might as well go to Paris”

By drawing PSG into the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, US Orléans inherited the scarecrow of the competition. A prestigious poster which should allow the National resident to easily fill the 7,500 seats at the Source stadium.

Pieces of glass discovered on the lawn

However, the club still does not have the certainty of being able to host the capital club on January 20, due to pieces of glass which were discovered on the pitch after faulty sandblasting more than a month ago and half. The town hall will not authorize any match to take place until the pitch has been completely replaced. Although the installation of rollers has already started, operations are slowed down by the cold currently affecting France.

Under these conditions, the president of the USO raised the possibility of moving the meeting to Paris. “We are thinking about perhaps reversing the order of the match and going to play at the Parc des Princes,” he admitted. Why not after all ? There is this problem with our pitch and we are not sure that it will be operational on match day. So, if we don’t play in Orléans, we might as well go and play in Paris rather than playing in a backup stadium which would not be a good solution. »
