Edge rusher Jordan Mayer has committed to transfer to Penn State football, he announced Friday. Mayer, who comes to Penn State from Wisconsin and should have four years of eligibility remaining, is the third player to commit to the Nittany Lions from the portal this year.

Mayer spent just one year with Wisconsin after joining the program as a three-star recruit. He didn’t notch any statistics and his page on the Wisconsin Athletics website doesn’t note any appearances. Mayer was unranked in the transfer portal.

Mayer’s addition will help shore up a defensive line in need of some depth pieces. With the departures of Adisa Isaac and Chop Robinson to the NFL Draft, the Nittany Lions are looking for possible replacements as well as players who can fill out roster spots.

A Pennsylvania native, Mayer joins Penn State after kicker Chase Meyer and four-star wide receiver Julian Fleming as additions from the portal.
