Czech hockey players David Pastrňák and Tomáš Hertl will participate in this year’s NHL All-Star Game. Both attackers were included in the first 32 actors of the traditional exhibition, the remaining twelve will be decided by the fans. The list of hockey players selected one from each club of the overseas league was published by the NHL. The All Star Game weekend will take place February 1-3 in Toronto.
Pastrňák will represent Boston in the Scotiabank Arena and will participate in the All-Star Game for the fourth time after 2019, 2020 and 2023. Hertl from San Jose has only experienced the exhibition in 2020.
There are seven No. 1 draft picks in the base nomination, including the last one, Connor Bedard from Chicago. There are also Auston Matthews from host Toronto, Connor McDavid from Edmonton, who is the most frequent participant in the exhibition with six starts, Sidney Crosby from Pittsburgh, Nathan McKinnon from Colorado, Rasmus Dahlin from Buffalo and Jack Hughes from New Jersey.
There are currently four goalkeepers in the selection, only two defenders and the rest are forwards. By voting on the NHL website and social networks until January 11, fans will decide on the next four goaltenders and eight players in the field.
The All Star Game will take place in a completely new format. Already on Thursday, February 1, the four captains, together with the celebrities, will choose their teams consisting of nine skaters and two goalies. Friday will be reserved for skill competitions, which will also have a new form. Twelve selected players will compete for points in a total of eight disciplines. The actual All-Star Game is scheduled for February 3.
