The Edmonton Oilers are storming from success to success in the NHL. The triumph against Nashville was the 16th win in a row. The German national player Leon Draisaitl is a key contributor to the ice hockey fairytale – as was once again admirable against Nashville.

It was a goal that couldn’t be more typical for Leon Draisaitl. The Edmonton Oilers forward took the pass straight away, got down on one knee during the shot and nailed the puck into the goal from the advantage. The German ice hockey star provided two assists in his Oilers’ 4-1 win in the NHL against the Nashville Predators.

The 28-year-old played a key role in his team’s 16th win in a row. Edmonton is currently unstoppable, the Oilers just need to win one more game to equal the Pittsburgh Penguins’ record from the 1992/93 season. The Columbus Blue Jackets also won 16 games in a row in the 2016/17 season.

All-Star weekend interrupts the Oilers’ run in the NHL

Draisaitl was involved in at least three goals for the fourth time during this successful run. “This is something special. You need great performances and some good games to reach this number,” says Draisaitl about his team’s winning streak. “We were a bit sloppy in the last three games, but strong individual performances brought us the victories.”

The Oilers have found their way back to their former strength after a disastrous start to the season. The winning streak has catapulted the team to third place in the Eastern Division and tenth place in the league. In addition to Draisaitl, captain and superstar Connor McDavid is of course also responsible for this. “We are on a strong run. “We didn’t play our best hockey last week, but we still got three wins – that’s a great sign,” said McDavid.

Fans and players now have to be patient. Whether the Oilers will equal the Penguins’ NHL record will only become clear after the All-Star break next weekend: Then Edmonton will face the reigning champions Vegas Golden Knights on February 6th.
