Nadal comes from defeating the American Darwin Blanch (No. 1028) in the first round and the Australian Alex De Miñaur (N°11) in the second instance, avenging what happened in Barcelona a week ago.

Cachin arrived in Madrid with a streak of 15 losses in a row and ended the drought with great victories against the Austrian Sebastian Ofner (No. 45) and the American Frances Tiafoe (No. 21). If he completes his epic against Nadal, he will equal his performance from last year when he reached the round of 16.
“It is one of the goals of my life. I played with Djokovic last year in the center at Wimbledon. Playing with Rafa is a dream. I’ve seen it since his first Roland Garros. I remember watching him one Sunday in bed and now that it’s my turn to play… I’ll probably face it with a lot of fear, but I’ll have time to really think about what I want for that game.”commented the man from Córdoba.
