NBA: Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs should play in Paris in 2025

It was anticipated, but it is being confirmed more and more. Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs should be part of the “NBA Paris Game 2025”, this American league match relocated to Paris next year. While the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers face each other this week for the 2024 edition, the announcement of next year’s poster is still awaited.

But according to the American journalist from The Athletic Joe Vardon, the choice is already made. The San Antonio Spurs of the French prodigy, number 1 in the last draft, will be there. Opposite, even if it remains to be confirmed, we should find the Indiana Pacers franchise.

Confirmation expected from the NBA

For the NBA, the choice of this poster, in particular the presence of the Spurs, seems more than logical, given the appeal that Victor Wembanyama is already generating across the Atlantic. Bringing him back to France for a match would guarantee a packed house, and a unique success, even if the first three matches in Paris have already been sold out.

The information remains to be confirmed, however, but everything should be settled in the next 36 hours, between now and the start of the match at the Accor Arena scheduled for this Thursday at 8 p.m. Adam Silver, boss of the NBA, should surely speak on the issue by then.

As a reminder, the first two editions of the NBA Paris Game brought Milwaukee and Charlotte in 2020, before Chicago and Detroit in 2023 after a two-year break following Covid-19.
