NBA All-Star Game 2024: Latest Voting Trends and Players to Watch

Three weeks after the opening of the poll, the NBA publishes a new score of public votes for the 2024 All-Star Game. The trends seen during the first score are confirmed, and some players already seem to be on the plane to Indianapolis, where the All-Star Weekend will take place from February 16 to 18, 2024 .

In the West, it’s the status quo since behind LeBron James and his approximately three million votes, we still find Stephen Curry (Warriors), Nikola Jokic (Nuggets), Luka Doncic (Mavericks) and Kevin Durant (Suns) . Only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder) seems able to enter this Western five but he is already 400,000 votes behind Curry.

A Lillard-Young duel for a place in the East

In the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still ahead of Joel Embiid (Sixers) and Jayson Tatum (Celtics) in the frontcourt. On the other hand, things are moving on the backcourt side since Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers) is now followed by Trae Young (Hawks). The Atlanta leader took the place of Damian Lillard (Bucks), who trails him by 35,000 votes. Clearly, their crossover should continue, and it is the votes of players and journalists that could decide between them.

As a reminder, votes will close on January 20, and the All-Star Game will take place in Indianapolis on February 18. Players and media will then join fans to choose their own All-Stars. Fans will represent 50% of the vote, while current players and the media panel will weigh 25% each. The replacements will, for their part, be selected by the 30 coaches.

A pivotal edition since the NBA has decided to return to the old formula with an opposition between the East and the West. There will therefore no longer be an All-Star Draft, with two captains who composed their squads without taking into account the conferences of each All-Star.
