Ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin is working on her comeback after her fall in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Innsbruck.

“Mikaela is doing relatively well, considering the circumstances. Nothing serious happened, no broken bones, no torn ligaments,” said US alpine director Patrick Riml on Tuesday (January 30, 2024) on ORF. An overstretching of the inner ligament in the knee was discovered.

Shiffrin (28) lost his balance after hitting a bump during the descent on Friday. She fell and crashed into the safety net. The US star was treated for several minutes and then limped off the slopes, partially supported by carers, his face contorted in pain.

Return on the 10th/11th. February?

A return could be possible on February 10th and 11th in Soldeu, said Riml. “Often you take one step forward and two steps back,” he said. “We have to be patient – let’s put it that way.”
