MGM’s Betting Division Partners with Elon Musk’s X App Amid Advertiser Exodus

MGM’s betting division has partnered with the app formerly known as Twitter, even as many of its advertisers are leaving.

Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, will begin integrating sports betting. This does not mean that you will place bets on the app.

X is set to display gaming statistics through a partnership with BetMGM, Fortune reported. Details on the deal were scarce, but according to Fortune, X will display betting information through MGM’s sports betting division and then provide a link to the gaming platform.

As sports blog Awful Announcing pointed out, MGM is the third most popular sports gaming app — behind DraftKings and FanDuel — and already has major partnerships with platforms like Yahoo and the YouTube baseball show Foul Territory. This potential partnership between X and MGM comes at a time when almost all sports media platforms are saturated with gaming content amid widespread legalization. In a way, it makes sense for X to partner with a gaming platform, as fans still use the app to discuss sports.

However, it’s curious to see MGM linking up with X when most brands are disconnecting from Musk’s site as if it’s going out of style. Giant companies like Apple and Disney dropped X after the new owner shared anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

So while we don’t really know what it will look like or when it will happen, a big brand could soon be much more visible on the site.
