Medvedev Shines, Ruud and Dimitrov Out: Australian Open Round-Up

“I was very happy with my game,” said Medvedev, who had to fend off a match point against the Canadian in the quarter-finals in Melbourne in 2022. In duels with Félix Auger-Aliassime the Russian is now 7-0.

In round two, Medvedev had a real marathon match against the Finn Emil Ruusovuori (3:6, 6:7, 6:4, 7:6, 6:0) that lasted late into the night, but seemed well recovered.

The Australian Open, however, is over for Casper Ruud. The Norwegian lost out to Briton Cameron Norrie 4:6, 7:6 (9:7), 4:6, 3:6. The 28-year-old is in the round of 16 in Melbourne for the first time.

Brisbane winner Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria/No. 13), who is against the world number 69, is also surprisingly out. Nuno Borges lost.

3rd round: Borges surprises Dimitrov – highlights

Borges now against Medvedev

The 26-year-old Portuguese won 6:7 (3:7), 6:4, 6:2, 7:6 (8:6) in 3:05 hours of play and celebrated his greatest career success.

In the round of 16, however, Medvedev is now an even bigger hurdle for Borges.
