The elite sports revitalization project promoted by Jeongeup City is paying off as players from Jeongju High School’s badminton club, which was founded in June of last year, were selected for the junior national team (standing team).
The junior national team selected by the Korea Badminton Association included two players: Jeong Ju-go, Kim Yun-hoo (sophomore), and Choi Jae-sang (sophomore).
The selected players will participate in winter camp training held in Jeju Island from the 8th to the 25th, hosted by the Korea Badminton Association.
The Jeongju High School badminton team, which was founded by Jeongeup City by supporting training subsidies for nurturing sports talent, has a coach and 15 players devoted to training.
Accordingly, Jeongeup Mayor Lee Hak-soo invited the Jeongju High School players, the president of the Badminton Association, and officials from the Sports Promotion Agency to a luncheon on the 4th and encouraged them.
Mayor Lee Hak-soo said, “The fact that Jeongju High School players were selected for the national team is the result of the team’s diligent training in cooperation with the city government and the school. We will strive to strengthen Jeongeup City’s sports competitiveness by revitalizing elite sports.”
