MADRID, 26 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester City won this Friday 0-1 on their visit to Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to a goal from defender Nathan Aké in the 88th minute, and thus advanced to the round of 16 of the FA Cup, a tournament where the pupils of Pep Guardiola defend their 2023 title.

Just like a year ago against Arsenal (1-0), and also in a decisive round of 32, Aké decided the outcome for the ‘citizens’. On this occasion away from home, the almost 70 minutes of equality gave way to a growing dominance of Manchester City.

But it wasn’t until the final stretch that Guardiola’s team beat Guglielmo Vicario. In a corner from the left, taken on foot by Kevin De Bruyne, the Tottenham goalkeeper failed to catch the ball inside the six-yard box in his jump with Rúben Dias.

The ball bounced off the ankle of defender Micky van de Ven and left Aké ready to push it into the back of the net with the sole of his foot. This move, with some fortune, helped Guardiola win for the first time in his history against Tottenham as a ‘citizen’ coach.

On the other hand, Chelsea drew goalless against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge and their tie will require a replay to decide who advances to the round. The same will happen in the Bristol City vs Nottingham Forest (0-0) and Sheffield Wednesday vs Coventry (1-1) matches.
