Madi Monamay Chooses to Stay at Bayer Leverkusen: No Transfer to De Graafschap

Although Bayer Leverkusen and De Graafschap had already agreed, Madi Monamay of the German club will not finish the season in Doetinchem.

There seemed to be a very good chance that the 17-year-old talent would come to the Achterhoek, because he did not have time to play at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, leader in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen wanted Monamay to go to De Graafschap for four months, his parents also wanted that, but the player canceled on Tuesday.

“Despite mutual enthusiasm, Madi has chosen to stay with Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the next half season,” says technical director Peter Bijvelds of De Graafschap. “It’s a shame, but the clubs obviously respect his decision.”

No more transfers expected

Bijvelds expects that no more transfers will take place until the end of the transfer window (closes in the Netherlands on Thursday evening at 11:59 PM). “But that could of course change. I have not heard anything more about Basar Önal from Turkey, but the transfer market there closes a week later.”
