Conflicting reports surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s next move highlights just how murky the French superstar’s future looks.
News emerged that Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have long held a well-documented interest in the forward, imposed a mid-January deadline on Mbappe to decide whether he’d take up their offer or look elsewhere.
However, The Times claims Mbappe was left “unimpressed” by Madrid’s efforts to pressure him into making a decision in January.
The report also claims the World Cup winner could now be tempted to explore his options, which could include a free agency switch to the Premier League in the summer.
If Mbappe is to move to England, it would be no surprise to see Liverpool among the sweepstakes.
The Paris Saint-Germain star has previously discussed his admiration for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and even held talks with the Reds prior to re-signing with PSG in 2022.
Despite The Times claiming Mbappe has turned down Real Madrid, Foot Market reported the Spanish heavyweights have reached an agreement to sign him.
With his contract set to expire this summer, Mbappe is permitted to negotiate with rival clubs ahead of moving on a free transfer in June.

Brentford fans can breathe a sigh of relief — at least for now — as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta conceded the chances of bringing in a new striker in January “doesn’t look realistic”.
The Gunners’ lack of cutting edge up front was there for all to see in the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup.
In fact, Arsenal have scored just five goals in their last seven fixtures across all competitions as Arteta has watched his side skid to five points off Jurgen Klopp’s side, who lead the Premier League.
Brentford marksman Ivan Toney has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and the lacklustre displays in front of goal will have Arsenal fans even more desperate to bring the Bees star to north London.
However, Arteta’s telling admission means Gunners fans may have to wait until the summer before any potential move for Toney.
“At the moment it doesn’t look realistic,” Arteta said after the FA Cup defeat.
“My job is to improve our players and get better results with the players we have.”
It remains to be seen if Arteta will be able to even bring in a fresh face on loan as Arsenal now just have to worry about the Premier League and the Champions League.

ENGLISH OUTCAST OFFERS HIMSELF TO EURO GIANTS IN BOLD MOVE

Since leaving Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Jesse Lingard has been without a club.
There were strong links with a potential move to Saudi Arabia during the summer window, but nothing came to fruition as the former Manchester United star was left to twiddle his thumbs.
But with the January window now open, Lingard has wasted no time in offering his services to various clubs across the world.
And he has not been afraid to shoot for the stars.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Lingard has told Barcelona he’d be keen to play for them and that it could be the perfect springboard for him to showcase what he’s capable of.
Given Barcelona’s well-documented financial issues, bringing in Lingard without needing to fork out a transfer fee might make this move more realistic than some might have thought.
